The City of Canton Recycle Center (located at 742 Schroyer Ave SW) is now a Household Hazardous Waste collection site for all District residents. Residents simply need to call 330-430-7869 to schedule an appointment to drop off their hazardous waste. Only residents can utilize the no cost HHW collection—no waste from businesses will be accepted.

Acceptable wastes include Flammable Liquids (gasoline, kerosene, mineral spirits, acetone, xylene, lighter fluid, oil-based paint, stain, Thomas Water Seal, varnishes, etc), Aerosols, Pesticides, Insecticides, Herbicides, Fungicides, Corrosive Liquids (naval jelly, muriatic acid, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, toilet cleaners, sodium hydroxide, ammonia, Drano, caustic soda, 409 cleaner), Automotive Fluids (motor oil, antifreeze, hydraulic fluid, gear oil, fryer oil, etc), items that contain Mercury (thermometers, thermostats, switches, etc), Batteries (Nickel Cadmium, Lithium or Lithium-ion, Alkaline, Sealed Lead Acid (gel cells), Lead Acid, etc), Propane Tanks, and Fluorescent Bulbs (tubes, compact, U-tubes, circular).
