The
District will award grants to units of local
government to help them initiate new recycling
programs. In order to be eligible, programs
must support the District’s efforts to
meet state recycling goals and must be consistent
with, or exceed the recycling programs specified
in the Plan Update. The following criteria
will be used to evaluate potential programs:
- The highest
priority will be given to pay-as-you-throw
programs with weekly curbside collection;
- The second-highest
priority will be given to other pay-as-you-throw
programs;
- Preference
will be given to curbside recycling programs
over drop-off recycling programs;
- Preference
will be given to new recycling programs versus
modification or expansion of existing programs;
- Preference
will be given to recycling programs that meet
one or more objectives identified in the District’s
“Overall Infrastructure Strategy”.
