Recycling Infrastructure Enhancement Grant (RIEG)
Composting Infrastructure Enhancement Grant (CIEG)
The District will allocate $200,000 to the
RIEG program in 2007 – 2009, $100,000
in 2010 and $50,000 in 2001 – 2016.
The District will allocate $50,000 to the CIEG
program in 2007 – 2009 and $25,000 in
2010 – 2016.
All existing recycling processors and compost
facilities located within the District will
be eligible for the RIEGs and CIEGs, respectively.
Grant funding will be targeted to facilities
meeting the following selected set of criteria:
- operational need;
- identified recycling capacity gaps;
- ability to target new tonnage; and
- ability to target new materials.
The intent of these grants will be to build
upon the existing recycling and composting infrastructure
within the District and ensure that as the District’s
programs expand that processing capacity is
sufficient. One key requirement of being
eligible to receive a grant will be participation
in the District’s annual recycling survey
for its Annual District Report (i.e. if a facility
wants to obtain grant funding from the District
it must be able to demonstrate and/or contractually
obligate itself to compliance with the District’s
recycling reporting requirements).
Any facility that accepts a grant will be required
to provide waste reduction reporting to the
District as long as the facility remains operational.
The ultimate goal is to have all facilities
in the District comply with the District's reporting
requirements. Both the RIEG's and CIEG's
will be prioritized based on the grant funding
criteria (see above) and the results of the
comprehensive infrastructure study discussed
earlier in this section.
